From Vandal to Visionary
Fuzz didn't come up through a traditional path — but then again, nothing about him is traditional. He started out in Miami as a self-described "little vandalizing punk," making characters in the streets before finding his way to tattooing through a fellow street artist who was already running a machine. An apprenticeship followed, which he balanced with school until he eventually had to choose between a career in architecture and a life in tattooing. He chose the machine. Nearly 15 years later, it's hard to argue with that call.
The Style: Painterly, Bold, and Constantly Evolving
Painterly renders, bold lines, dynamic values — and more experimentation on the way. From the first concept sketch to the finished tattoo, Fuzz uses his illustration and character design background to work out shape language, legibility, and the overall aesthetic of the piece. Approaching from a storyboard mindset gives him more control over the final product, and it shows.
His favorite territory is Asian-inspired and horror work, especially with his own twist on them. Large-scale projects give him the most freedom design-wise, but he genuinely enjoys the smaller bangers too. Over the years, Fuzz and his clients have taken home dozens of convention awards — every placed piece a collaboration he's grateful for.
Shaped by the World
Fuzz likes to travel — seeing the world, indulging in unique cultures and perspectives, adventuring new lands, and engorging in international cuisine. Back home he's hiking, kayaking, and camping across Florida and beyond. The world keeps feeding the work.
His influences span the full range: tattoo artists Victor Chil, Jesse Smith, Jamie Ris, and Jim Q Choi among others. In traditional art, Greg Simkins, Gil Elvgren, and Akira Toriyama. On the stereo: the Gorillaz, A Tribe Called Quest, The Cure, Earth Wind & Fire, and Yoko Kanno — sometimes all in the same session.
The Experience
Fuzz puts on weird films, tells bad jokes, and creates the kind of room where inhibitions tend to disappear pretty quickly. Most of his clients are pretty weird in their own right — and that's exactly how he likes it. He respects an individual and authentic personality.
