TARA BROUGHMAN

Tara Broughman - Illustrative Neo-Traditional & Glitter Tattoo Artist

The Scenic Route

Tara Broughman has been a creative person since she could walk — encouraged by her mother and aunt to pursue art from as early as she can remember. Before tattooing, she spent nearly eight years as a hair stylist and color specialist, and what she brought from that chapter turned out to matter more than she expected. Reading clients' body language, translating vague ideas into something they'd love wearing, and working daily with color theory as a blonding specialist — all of it maps directly onto what great tattooing requires. She finds it easier than most to meet clients where they are, especially when they're struggling to articulate what they want or aren't sure how to speak up.

She made the leap into tattooing in 2021. Best decision she's ever made.

Neo-Traditional, Illustrative, and Genuinely Glittery

Tara works in color and black and gray illustrative neo-traditional — bold, character-forward work with rich color palettes and real depth. But the thing that sets her apart most visibly is the glitter.

It started early in her apprenticeship when she was designing a custom piece she was struggling to get excited about. She found the work of artist Amanda Graves, thought what if I tried some of that here, ran it by the client, and it clicked. She's been refining it ever since. The effect is built on meticulous dot work — fine needle, patient dot-by-dot gradients, layered reflected colors, and finally white dots placed with intention, which is what makes it read as glitter rather than noise. It takes patience and it takes time, but the results are unlike anything else.

The Subjects She Loves Most

Tara is a proud 90s kid and full-on nerd. Video games are a particular love — Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Mortal Kombat. Anime and pop culture fill out the rest: Sailor Moon, Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh, Lord of the Rings. She also loves florals and nature, old gauntlets and weaponry, fairycore and magical imagery, and pet memorial tattoos. She genuinely loves getting to see your pets.

Finding Her People

Tara moved to Orlando from Tampa and found The East through a friend already working here. She was looking for the right environment — and it turned out to be exactly that. Being surrounded by generous, talented artists who made space for a newer artist to watch, ask questions, and grow gave her the confidence and community she needed. She's been pushing forward ever since.

Book with Tara

Tara's best sessions are with clients who nerd out as much as she does. When both artist and client are excited about the same thing, it goes from good to something really special. Fill out the form below with your idea and let's make something worth loving forever.
