STEVE ROBERTS
Steve Roberts | Co-Owner & Illustrative Tattoo Artist in Orlando
20+ Years of Custom Tattoo Artistry in Central Florida
Steve Roberts has been tattooing professionally since 2005. As co-owner of The East Tattoo in Orlando's Ivanhoe Village, he's spent two decades building a body of work — and a studio — that puts the artist first. When he's not tattooing or running the shop, he's at home with his wife, two pit mixes, and a horror movie playing in the background while he draws.
A Style Built on Range
Steve's influences run wide. Renaissance Disney and early Pixar sit comfortably next to Alphonse Mucha, John James Audubon, and James Jean. Japanese folk art and traditional tattooing. Art Nouveau. The kind of visual diet that produces work that's hard to pin down but immediately recognizable. There's a reason clients start saying a tattoo "looks like a Steve Roberts" — it doesn't look like anyone else's.
His tattooing blends the structure of Neo-Traditional with the energy and movement of New Skool, applied across a range of subjects: animal portraits, florals, full-color sleeves, large-scale black and gray back pieces, and everything in between.
The Work He Lives For
Steve's favorite projects are medium to large — full backs, sleeves, anything with room to breathe. Whether it's a reinterpretation of a Renaissance painting, a floral half sleeve, or a pet portrait with some personality to it, what he's really after is the challenge. The best clients aren't the ones who say "do whatever you want" — they're the ones who tell him what they're after without over-directing it, then let him make something genuinely his own.
